Commitment to writing

posted Mar 18, 2013, 1:44 PM by Cory McDermott
I find myself in another transition period in my life. During these times especially, I find writing to be a valuable experience. I want to make the commitment to write. Not only does writing help me to share my story, but it helps me to devote time to analysis and reflection about my situation. To be perfectly honest, I don't know what I'm going to write about, what format it will be, or who will be the intended audience. I only know this, far brighter people than myself have made commitments to write, and I want to do the same.

So here's the commitment, for the next three months, I will write an average of 200 words per day. This is not counting Facebook postings or emails :-) 200 words may not sound like a lot, and that's the point. I want my goal to be small and manageable. At the end of three months, I want to be able to look back and reflect positively on the experience. At that time, I hope to be able to elevate my goal to a higher threshold. I will monitor my progress using the app that I developed called TapData. Another goal that I have is to get my app back up and running and get some marketing material put together. I developed it a few years ago, and let it go by the wayside. To date, I haven't seen anything that does what it can do in some respects.

For reference, this short posting was 262 words.

Here goes nothing!
